Our boat neared the mouth of the Haven. The skipper spotted the distinctive fin of sunfish, flapping on the surface. I’ve seen these fish with increasing regularity of the last few years on hot days like today. I thought about tying on a soft plastic lure and casting towards it, but this was vetoed by the rest of the crew. I guess some fish are for catching, some fish are for watching.

The sea state meant that venturing beyond St. Anne’s head towards the islands of Skomer and Skokholm was off the cards today. We satisfied ourselves with dangling the mackerel feathers overboard, and catching the eponymous fish and a few pollack.

The evening arrived and we motored toward our mooring in Dale. The local lobster fisherman noticed we’d set up our barbecue. He came alongside in his dinghy and donated a lobster to our dinner. Good man!
