In order to compensate for yesterday’s rare fishless outing. I returned to our boat intent on a bass. We trolled a variety of lures through the evening gloom, without attracting any interest.

We had heard a tale of an incredible 22-lb bass being caught nearby. Guessing at the location of the mark, we hoped for a similar capture. I cast a savage gear sandeel from the boat, until I felt the slight pressure of a small fish. This tiny bass was quickly boated and returned. It was to be the only capture tonight.
